Why I'm a fan of Gilmore Girls
It's Tuesday night and I'm spending it how I often do, in front of the television watching the Gilmore Girls (tonight's a rerun). Derrick absolutely hates this show and can't understand how I can relate to the lily white mother/daughter team from Connecticut. He immediately leaves the room as soon as the show comes on. I guess I like it because it reminds me of my one semester domestic exchange experience at Wellesley College many moons ago. But you know what? I don't care if he doesn't like it. I still like to watch the show, even though I must admit it's taken a nose dive lately ever since Lorelai decided to break off her engagement with Luke. I'm also not a big fan of Logan (Rory, he's a CHEATER!!) but I've still managed to remain a fan of the show. When I watch this show, I can't help but wonder if one day I'll have a daughter and we'll have as close a relationship as the one the characters portray on this show (although it's probably highly unlikely seeing as how I'll be an old mama [I'm 34!], and the mom on the show became a mom at 16, and oh yeah, the story is FICTION!!!).
Sigh...
Anyway, am I the only black woman on the planet (other than my mother) who actually likes this show? I know I can't be the only one. Can I?

My Sister-in-Law watches GG too.
So, You and Creole are not the only two Sista's that watch the show. Even though ya'll may be the only THREE Sista's. : )
BTW - Derrick leaves the room for the same reason ALL men do. No straight man would be caught dead in the same room with a television showing THE GILMORE GIRLS!
And My God, YOU BLOG too! If his boyz came across your blog and you wrote, "Last night, me and Derrick cuddled on the sofa sipping egg nog and watching Gilmore Girls.." Lord knows - they would clown him something awful!!! He's protecting his rep. Just point him him to ESPN or the History Channel on the other TV and he'll be fine!

New to your blog but am already spell bound. I LOVE GILMORE GIRLS!!! And...ding, ding... I'm a 22 year old sista. I have loved it since the very first season and my cousin Stephanie loves it too! I still kinda wish till this day that Dean wouldn't have gotten married, but actually seeing the change in Jess, maybe it would have been okay for Rory to be with him. I just love the show, plain and simple. They need to do some type of live taping so us handful of sistas can represent!
